Fitting Your Ezy-Fit Door

Diagram: Fitting a security door.
  1. If you have a short sill it is best to fit the bug strip to the bottom of the door, so that when the door is closed the mohair comes up against the door sill, this must be done before the door is fitted. For an extended sill, the bug strip can be fitted on the face of the door outside so that the mohair touches the sill, this can be done after the door is fitted. Rivets are supplied.
  2. It is important to rest the door on small packers so there is no pressure on the subframe. For doorways with a short sill the bottom of the security door should be about 5mm below the sill. For doorways with an extended sill it is ideal to leave 2mm under the subframe, dependant on how square the doorway is. You may have to remove beading or architrave etc to fit the security door.
  3. Fit Phillips screws in the hinged side, then fit screws into lock side making sure that the subframe is resting on the top spacer. The lock side frame should be against spacers or the same gap as hinged side - 3 or 4mm is ideal. Fit all Phillips Head Screws. At this stage the door should be opening and closing smoothly (it is important to open the door to make sure it doesn't hit lights, facia, etc) There are 5 Spacers all up 1 at the top and 4 down the lock side remove these spacers once all the screws are fitted before you can close the door again.
  4. Check the door is closing and locking with both keys and snib (if not then the gap up the top may be too small or too big compared to the hinged side gap).
  5. Once the door is operating correctly, remove the Phillips screws and insert one way screws - one at a time.
  6. Push the caps into face holes.

Important: The one way screws are supplied for security reasons. If these screws are not fitted then the door becomes a safety door. Remove black Spacers after the door is hung. The Parrot Beak locks must not touch the Striker Plates.
